Serville, 1993 — Henri Cartier-Bresson

This photograph titled “Serville” was captured in 1993 by Henri Cartier-Bresson. As we can see, this is a black and white photo that is framed through an asymmetrical hole in what seems to be a building wall. I was drawn to the creativity that was played with while shooting this photo. The wall adds character to the photo and allows the viewer to focus on the kids playing as the centerpiece of the photo that the wall is channeling in on. This is important because it allows the viewer to see the relevance in the idea of these kids making the best out of their living situations and finding pleasure in being together.
