This photo is very graphic and speaks to the absolute atrocities that spurred the civil rights movement. The man being abused in this image is Clifford Vaughs, he is being arrested but unfortunately you would never know that. The complete disregard for human life is apparent as this is never a normal way to arrest someone. This photo is so effective because it only adds to the piles of evidence proving the horrific racial injustices within American and global society. These acts of inhumanity and terror are what drove the Civil Rights Movement.
