I have many takeaways from the examples. One of the characteristics that make an impact throughout is the scale and proportion of the subjects in the photos. Many photos are taken of subjects with objects near them that dwarf them and in turn create a powerful scale appearance. Another piece of advice I learned through the video that can be helpful is to try to find another viewpoint, don’t settle for the obvious. This can refer to the angle at which you take your photo or from what level of viewing, inverted and upside – down, or simply making space between subjects in frame. I am making my book project on a combination of street photography and architecture and methods that would be useful would be to get a good amount of space between myself and subject to fully show the grandeur of my subject as well as have no cropping. I could also find different reference points such as people in front of a building or piece of architecture that would give photos a sense of scale.
