This image consists of 5 handheld pencil sharpeners each connected to another by a vertex. 2 miniature figures that resemble soldiers, seem to be using these 5 pencils sharpeners as lans for their long shotguns. The artists attempt to resemble an average olden day war scene by placing these 2 figurines at the ends of these pencil sharpeners. This image has many key components that make it so successful. First of all, the photographer left the image in color which makes the “scene” look more realistic. The green base used by the photographers closely resembles grass that would be seen in a grassy war zone. In addition the composition of this image adds a very appealing aspect. The 5 pencil sharpeners are lined up starting from left to right where we can see the side face of the first one. The face of this sharpener is very in focus whereas the last on is not as in relative focus. This adds a nice depth of field to the image. The most appealing part of this image is how the photographers were able to create a scene out of common everyday objects that would not have previously been viewed in this particular way.
