Capturing Motion Blur

The article by Darren Rowse gives good insight into how we can capture a successful motion blur image. He goes into depth about the broad spectrum of techniques one can use to get the perfect blur. One of the tips that stood out to me was slowing down the shutter speed. The shutter speed is basically how long you set the cameras lens to open up and take a shot. Having a longer shutter speed means you will be able to sense motion if it occurs in the range of the cameras lens. Often times, other aspects will have to be changed in order to compensate for the amount of light that can go into the camera during a long shutter speed. 2 ways you can eliminate this extra light is by setting a smaller aperture as well as changing the ISO (controls the cameras light sensitivity). Otherwise, making sure that the camera is still during a long exposure is crucial if you only want to capture the motion of one thing that is moving.
