Men and the Mannequins

This piece is the perfect demonstration of how some men treat women as objects. These mannequin women are quite literally objects and this photo captures these men’s faces when they see the nude dolls. If this is how these men ogle fake women, imagine how they treat real ones. Admittedly, this photo caught my eye not only because of how excitable the men look, but also for why the mannequins are out in the street? From analyzing the long depth of the background I can tell this was taken in a city and it seems to be busy and bustling with people, so why are there are random mannequins on the sidewalk. It caused me to stop and question and re-evaluate the photo. I enjoyed the randomness of the mannequin placement. I also like how there is a black and white filter on this photo. It gives a classic look, almost as if it is from a movie and this is a comical scene where the men are caught off guard by the mannequins nudity. One thing I dislike about this photo is that there is too much going on. There is no focal point. There is the city, the men, and the mannequins. After checking and re-checking this photo I realized that I chose this piece because it doesn’t make sense. Not everything has to make sense and this photo is the perfect represenation of that. Using different photography techinques heymen is constantly surprising the viewer which is beautiful within itself.
