I chose this Photograph as a short depth of field, for it focuses closely on the baby’s facial expression. The bokeh is blurry, so there is a high f-stop number. This picture captures the baby’s facial expression in great detail. The dark shadows in the background give the picture gloomy tone. http://www.artnet.com/artists/diane-arbus/a-child-crying-a-AqUjOYyGKNmfcEBnNy7eLA2
Two Teens Smoking
I chose this photograph as a far depth of field, for the picture focuses on the two teens. The foliage in the background is less visible as you look deeper in the photograph. The dark contrast on the boys clothes pop in the light background. http://www.artnet.com/artists/diane-arbus/two-boys-smoking-in-central-park-nyc-1963-a-AJUI2kcjjfiPh1LrFI51oA2

Some of the Robert Frank images have longer depth of field than the Arbus image you selected. Both of your Arbus images are short depth of field subjects. Her portrait shots tend to place the focus on the people and the backgrounds are soft.
