The strengths of the composition on the left are that it truly focuses on the 5 women in masks. They are the only subjects of the photograph and their emotions are clearly expressed by their facial expressions. The Long Depth of Field here helps put the attention to the grouping of these women. Furthermore, there is a lack of blur in the background due to the Long Depth of Field. The composition on the right does a great job of capturing the expression of the little girl and her composure. I like the way her coat and the basket are accentuated. Having a short depth of field here isolates the girl and makes her confused facial expression stand out.
