Photography by Robert Capa
Documentary photography is perhaps one of the most important modes of capturing the memories of our countries history. In order to remember and learn from our past, photographers have risked their lives to take powerful images that contribute greatly to the educational our youth. These images taken by Robert Capa were shot in different war-zones throughout history. These photographers are able to show people a glimpse into life as a soldier and what it was like having to live in this day and age. His images show the daily life of a soldier as well as action shots of the events that occurred. By using exceptional photographic technique, Capa was able to emphasize the important aspects within each image. For example, the image on the right has a very intricate composition that accentuates the “Men of the 16th Infantry Regiment” seeking cover in the rough waters on D-day. It is important for historical events like this to be captured by documentary photographers.
