Man in Chair Holding a Fake Female Head, New York, Ken Hayman, 1985, Vintage Gelatin silver print

Just as the title says, in the image I see a man in a chair holding a mannequin head. The man is looking off to the side at something unknown. Behind the man, there is chaos. It seems to me as if there is a business in selling the mannequin heads on the street. It looks like there are vendors behind this man in the chair.

This photograph is particularly interesting to me because of the stark impression that the fake female head makes. The head is centered in the photograph making it the immediate subject. It’s almost a very strange subject because today you would not normally see a man holding a mannequin head in such a fashion.
