A Flower Girl at a Wedding Lady in a rooming house parlor The first picture, A Flower Girl at a Wedding by Diane Arbus, has a short Depth of Field. The girl is the main subject of the picture, as it is focused on her. However, in the far distance, you can see trees in the background. It looks like the field is foggy, which gives the picture a creepy and mysterious vibe. In addition to the fog, the black and white filter also adds to the mystery of the picture. On the other hand, the second picture, Lady in a rooming house parlor by Diane Arbus, has a long Depth of Field. The entire picture is sharp and in focus. Even though the main subject is the woman in the chair, everything else in the room, like the chair and window, is in focus. Since the window is in focus, the room looks like it is glowing and makes it have a very calming presence.

Good contrast between the way depth of field affects textures in each photograph – from the coat in the short example to the rug and curtains in the long example.
