A house on a hill, Hollywood and Murder witness by Diane Arbus are works that show different types of depth of field. A house on a hill is a long depth of field, the object in the background is far from the object in the foreground. In a House on a hill, it takes viewers into a grassy field with a leering house prop further away from the grass that is taking majority of the camera’s frame.
Meanwhile, Murder Witness has the background closer to the foreground. It depicts a a woman screaming at what seems to be a figure before her. Both photos do a great job at having the background be a focus while having the foreground be somewhat blurred. But compared, to a house on the hill, Murder Witness does a slightly better job. House on the hill could’ve add more grass in the frame or tilted the camera slightly up to go for the sinister look it was attempting to go for.
