Sophia, Textures

Texture

I chose these four photos as my textured photos because I think that they are my best captures in terms of technique, color, quality, and variety. I enjoyed taking these photos because it was interesting to see the contrast between the different object focuses in each photo/location. I also liked the freedom to choose how we wanted to color our photos to accent the different details in each one. Capturing these photos on a phone camera was difficult at times because I am used to using an actual camera for these types of photos but I welcomed the challenge and enjoyed the chance to experiment with a new perspective.

  1. Sophie, I love both of these texture photos because they are such different objects, but are both so successful in drawing texture out of the objects. I particularly like how you used black and white to draw the contrast how within some of the images. Personally, I think that the Superga photo could be the start of a very strong series. You should shoot the texture of a selection of different sneakers and shoes, and place them together. Further, I see your rock path closeup being very successful as a mural on its own. I could picture it blown up in a beach house. Overall I love all of your texture photos and enjoy how you experimented with both color and black and white.
