Aaron Siskind _ Lehigh University Art Galleries, Sadie, Uncategorized8/24/20 Blog Post Chicago 27, 1960This abstract photo shown above by Aaron Siskind is titled, Chicago 27, 1960. This was one of the many pieces of work done by Siskind during this time period. This monochrome photograph depicts a large range of grey colors. This range is then used to accuentuate the various textures in the photo. The decay of the wall is symbolic of society at the time and the major oppression that was occurring. The horizontal and circular texture of the four faint circles on the bottom half of the photo also seem to resemble finger prints.
You could also describe the dark shadow on the bottom and the projecting objects on the right bottom and consider what they suggest about depth. Log in to Reply
The composition that Siskind chose for this composition is also very interesting. The way he draws our eye to the black dot in the center and then down through the squares and textures on the right. Log in to Reply
