This image is entitled, New York 51. It was taken in 1988, in New York. In this photo I notice a great deal of texture and shadow which is brought out by the deep contrast which is created between the background wall and the papers which are on top of it. The papers appear to be old newspapers. I notice that the people in the images of the photos all have very solemn emotions, and are also individuals of different color. Given the time period, this is very significant. I would place this work in Abstract photography. I assume that Siskind was attempting to capture the news which was up during this time while also mixing textures and contrast to bring out the image.

Good observation of texture, shadow, and expressions on faces.
